The Foundation Year (early work)
(1986 - )
My first year of art school was referred to as the ‘foundation year,’ but in this case, I use the term to refer to a more important span of time - when schooling ends and one is out in the real world and establishing the foundations of their practice. For the like minded, is a time when the possibilities of photography seem endless and one explores the world with a sense of complete freedom away from the constraints of career or art or even much concern for the future. "Projects" are yet to be defined and random incidents are collected; some taken as "serious" attempts, others not; some find their groupings later and others stay orphans. The common link is simply a wider curiosity about the world, that indeed, all things are photographable.
